Cancer Full Moon – Seizing Opportunity
For the Cancer Full Moon, we find ourselves at a crossroads.
The Jupiter/Uranus opposition, which is one of the biggest astrological events of 2017, made its first of 3 exact passes two weeks ago. With this transit well underway, we might already find before us the many opportunities it is likely to bring. And with Mercury moving forward in the sky once again, the time has come to resume moving forward in the world.
With the Cancer Full Moon on Wednesday night/Thursday morning, we’re faced with the choice of whether or not we choose to accept this new opportunity and step forward in our lives.
It’s likely that this new opportunity would be pushing us outside our comfort zone, forcing us to grow and take on more responsibility. This requires effort, and it requires stepping outside the safety of what is familiar.
Cancer as an archetype can best be represented by the hermit crab. The hermit crab requires a protective shell in order to survive, but as she grows, the shell becomes constrictive. She then makes a choice of whether or not to leave the comfort and familiarity of her current shell, and whether or not to be vulnerable, uncomfortable, and exposed in the transition process of finding one that’s more expansive. She can always decline that risk and remain inside the shell that she’s outgrown, stunting her evolution in the process.
With the Cancer Full Moon, we’re faced with that exact choice: Will we move forward and seize the opportunity of this Jupiter/Uranus opposition? Or will we decline and stay where we’re at and with what’s already familiar to us?
The Opportunity Won’t Always Be There
It’s common to think that these Jupiterian opportunities will always be there for us at a time when we feel ‘more ready’ for them, but often that’s not the case. Usually with Jupiter transits, the corresponding opportunity is there for a period of time, and if we let it pass, we’ve missed it.
And so the choice is yours: to venture into the unknown and the discomfort of growth, or to remain where you’re at and not move forward. The choice is yours to summon the sense of responsibility for your own life. And more often than not, when the opportunity presents itself, it means you’re ready, whether or not the little mind in the head wants to believe so.
And so I invite you to take the plunge and find the courage to seize that which is your birthright: a life of fulfillment and happiness. 2017 can provide a massive step for you in that direction, but the choice is yours whether or not you’re willing to take that step.
